Accessibility Statement

The aim of this Accessibility Statement is to give an accurate description of the facilities of Achindarroch Touring Park and the local area to people having Visual, Audio and Mobility disabilities.

General

Achindarroch Touring Park is situated at the foot of Glen Duror. The Park and surrounding walkways and paths are suitable for Wheelchair access. Details of Achindarroch Touring Park can be found on this website or within the brochure, available on request or you can download a copy here. Achindarroch Touring Park is totally flat on its roads, grass areas and pitches without any ramps or steps anywhere within its facilities. The roads also act as paths and therefore are easily seen or ‘tapped’ by the partially sighted.

Roads

Roads within Achindarroch Touring Park are limited to 5mph. The road system consists of metaled material (Tar and Stone).

Mobile Phones

Achindarroch Touring Park is within an area of good 4G mobile phone coverage. Where disabled individuals do not possess a mobile phone, then a phone will be provided by Achindarroch Touring Park for ‘an Emergency call’, for example to contact a relative.

Touring Pitches

40 pitches are shared by Touring Caravans, Motor Homes, Tents, Pods and Holiday Lodge. All pitches are on level ground with parking for one car alongside the pitch. The pitches are large and spacious. We will endeavor to accommodate disabled customers as close to the Amenity Block as possible.

Touring Park Amenities

The Amenity Block (Toilet and Shower facilities) have keypad entry doors. The entrance is virtually level. A large family Shower room containing most disabled facilities is in the process of being upgraded within the Amenity Block. The Shower room however is NOT reserved wholly for the disabled. The Family Shower room door is wide enough for wheelchair access with sufficient internal space. One toilet cubicle in both the ladies and Gents is larger than the other two and have outward opening doors.

Holiday Lodge

Achindarroch Touring Park has 1 Holiday Lodge for rental and is, unfortunately, not designed for disabled used use.

Reception

Parking Spaces are present directly outside the Reception building with flat access to Reception. The doors are double and provide adequate access for a wheelchair. A dropped counter is provided at the Reception.

Assistance Dogs

Achindarroch Touring Park is extremely dog friendly.
A Cycle track passes along the side of Achindarroch Touring Park and is excellent for dog walking. We have a fully fenced field adjacent to the Park and this can be used to exercise your dog/s. It is on level grass. Benches are present at intervals along the Cycle Path for rest. Plastic bags and refuse bins are provided for dog waste which MUST be picked up and deposited in the bins.

Doctors, Dentists & Hospitals

Numbers for the local services are available on the Notice Board at Reception.

Shop

Achindarroch Touring Park does not have a ‘shop’
A COOP, open at most times, is located in Ballahulish, approx. 6 miles from the Park.

Local Transport

Buses: There is a bus stops close to Achindarroch Touring Park.
Taxis: A few Taxi companies serve the Achindarroch Touring Park area, some with wheelchair capabilities. The names and telephone numbers of current disabled-friendly Taxi companies are available from Reception.

Achindarroch Touring Park Support to the Disabled

Achindarroch Touring Park staff are available from 9.00am to 5.00pm to provide any support. For emergencies outside these hours, please call 01631 740329. To ensure that any disabled persons are appropriately supported in an emergency, would guests kindly inform us where a disabled person is present in their party. Achindarroch Touring Park can then discuss any special actions that may be necessary in an emergency and request contact numbers of relatives that may be communicated with. All information will be treated in confidence.

We were looking to spend Xmas in the Glencoe/Fort William area and this was one of the few sites open. From the time we booked earlier in the year, a couple of phone calls inbetween, through to arrival, stay & departure, everything was top notch. Dicky & Anne run a tight ship with spotless facilities. They have a list of rules that are necessary for the location and shouldn't be a problem for most respectful campers. The location is beautiful, although we cut our stay short due to the weather and chose to go touring instead. Dicky advised us about traffic & roads in the area and even phoned us when there had been an accident that would've affected our route back to site! That's what I call Customer Care :-) The icing on the cake was a totally unexpected & thoughtful personalised Xmas gift that will long travel with us! If you're looking for somewhere to stay in this area, then pop Achindarroch at the top of your list!

Lovely, quiet, peaceful campsite. Owners Anne & Dickie put a lot of love and care into their site, everything is very neat and tidy and well maintained, and if you have a problem they are happy to help. Showers are clean with lots of hot water. There is also a washer & dryer, and fridge & freezer for campers. Situated right on the Oban-Fort William cycleway, there are also plenty of walks from the campsite up into Glen Duror or along the track. We had a great (extended) stay here, and thank you to Anne & Dickie for keeping us sane while our house purchase went through!

Immaculate campsite with great facilities. The owner is very helpful and accommodating, when we turned up on the day bikepacking and squared us away with a pitch.

Awesome little family run campsite with a great location, quiet spotlessly clean and well situated for visiting some great places around Lochaber. Anne and Dickie go out their way to look after guests but they do require Pre-Bookings... Will be back again soon.
